2020 Houston Auto Show Day 1

I arrived at the NRG Center about an hour before the show opened to the public. This gave me an opportunity to see the Mustang Mach E without throngs of people surrounding it. I also got to see the Kia Niro side-by-side with the Chevy Bolt EV, in order to compare them. My current Volt lease ends in less than two years, so I’m shopping for my next car, which will be an EV, instead of a plug-in hybrid. Here’s a short video of the first day’s experience:

I worked the show to help EVolve Houston spread the great news of electric vehicles to the show’s attendees. By the end of a full day of chatting with people about my experiences, my feet, legs and back were pretty sore! (note to self: wear shoes with better arch support at the next show…)

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
