So much has changed in the last 3 years but unfortunately, dealership training has not. There are those who are abandoning the business, rather than transition to electric transport (e.g. Cadillac buy-out). There are those who know they have a problem but think there is plenty of time to change (there isn’t. Electric trucks are about to arrive). There are those who know they need to change but don’t know where to start.
Electric vehicle sales are easy. So is bicycling, but you still needed someone to hold the bike upright, until you got your balance, back when you were learning to ride. The learning is not just required of salespeople. Management must implement changes to the dealership model or the sales staff will not get on board.
There is no shame in admitting you need help.
The shame will be the end of dealers when Tesla, Rivian and even vehicle OEMs replace the dealership model with something else.
