BMW i3 review: the EV I wanted to hate (video)

The title kind of gives things away. Here’s the video. The detailed review will take a bit longer as I have been swamped by NAIAS 2015.

Many thanks to Pedro Alicea of Classic BMW Plano and BMW of Arlington for the use of the BMW i3 for this review.

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.

  1. Buzz, it would be interesting to see photos of the 2015 Volt next to corresponding photos of the 2016 Volt so we could all see the differences.

  2. There’s a fight over standards for fast charging stations? Which is BMW supporting?

Could you explain which companies are on which side, who has the best technology, who has more installations now, and who is likely to win?

    Betamax v. VHS again?

  3. Hi Mr. Smith!
I’m currently doing a senior consulting project which focuses on electric vehicle fleet sales. I love your blog and was hoping to ask you a few more questions about the EV market based on your expertise. Please let me know if you would be willing to take a call or email to discuss this.
