A day looooong awaited…

side view at nightI’m finally a member of the club: I have a 2nd generation Volt! It arrived with three others (two of which are going to customers of mine). I worked with an excellent salesperson who really understood electric vehicles & hybrids.

Yes, that would be me. I sold (and acquired) the very first 2nd generation Volt sold by Classic Chevrolet in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, maybe even the first in Texas. I decided to lease this time around, to have a lower payment and to keep my options open for a pure EV in 3 years. Since I am leasing, (and because I really, really like the Silver Ice Metallic, I am probably not going to wrap the car in Synergy Green.

Was it worth the wait? I’ve only had it, in my possession, for about sixteen hours and immediately drove it to a conference in Austin, Texas. But yes, I love it. So many improvements. When I get a chance to kick back and write in length, I’ll have a detailed review/comparison with our 2015 (1st generation) Volt.

In the meantime, here’s some eye candy.

stock wheelI really didn’t like the stock wheels on the Premium Volt and I’m too cheap to pay for the upgraded wheels. Several of my coworkers had found a small company that powder coats wheels. I checked their wheels out and decided to make mine a glossy black. When the driver showed up to pick up my wheels, he suggested that, once powder coated, that his company skim cut the raised surfaces for contrast. An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.

    I have a Tesla Model S, but if my daily driving needs were different i would consider a volt (or ELR). I drive around 150 miles per day.

    1. Hey John, do you mind saying what you do for a living? 150 miles everyday is a lot.

      Visiting nurses drive about that. EVs would be great for them, but sales prices are too high.

      Also, what you do think of the build quality of the Tesla?
