It had to happen sooner or later. I’m just grateful it happened ahead of schedule. The Chevrolet Bolt EV is now available to order, at dealers in the great state of Texas!
Yes, Texas is my home state.
We’ve been making a list and checking it…often. Now that the day has come, we are receiving deposits from those interested in getting the Bolt EV as soon as possible…or at least as quickly as you can in Texas.
If you’d like to get a spot on the list or want to test drive a Bolt EV, as soon as possible, call one of Classic Chevrolet’s EVangelists at (817) 310-1025.
Is the Tesla Model 3 expected to have less range than the Bolt?
Yes. Tesla’s website states 215 miles per charge. Bolt EV is 238.
The new Leaf better get somewhere around 200 miles to be competitive, right?
There are two ways to compete. They could have a much shorter range, if at a much lower price.
Just read that the new Leaf will have two battery options: a 60 kWh and a 40 kWh. At 4 miles per kWh (is that about right?), the ranges would be 240 miles and 160 miles.
Nothing on the pricing yet.
I’m averaging 3.7 to 3.7 miles per kWh, with highs around 5 miles per.
Here’s a comment from a Norwegian I just read on CT:
“The Opel Ampera-e (=Bolt) could have been a great hit over here in Norway, but they deliver just a handful. 4000 persons have ordered the car without seeing it, and if you place an order to day, you probably get the car in 2019 (!!!).”
I don’t understand a manufacturer that refuses to make enough cars to satisfy the existing demand. Doesn’t make economic sense. Seems like a rational management would get the assembly lines working 24/7 until the demand is satisfied.
