Bob Lutz is my kinda guy!

Have you seen this?ViaNext week the Detroit Auto Show will be introducing us to new EVs, including (according to Bob Lutz, on the board of director for Via Motors):

  • The Cadillac ELR (which, to me, looks like a big Volt)
  • A new 4 wheel drive electric truck with the torque of a “monster truck” with up to 800 horsepower and 100 MPG!
  • An “Escalade-class” SUV with a Volt-like drive.

Bob has become a true believer in EV, but he thinks that, unlike the Volt, these vehicles will be driven by market demand rather than incentives from the government.

Oh, GM, you should never have let (or encouraged) Bob’s retirement…

The tipping point is really here. The purchase price seems a bit high until you take into account ‘total cost of ownership’ (like I’ve been preaching about, on the Volt).

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
