Finally, the day had arrived. I was going to the Chicago Auto Show! The most important item on the agenda, was a luncheon at which Henrik Fisker was going to discuss his cars and the future of his beleaguered company. I accidentally sat at a VIP table and was asked to move, right in the middle of the main course. How embarrassing! However, I was able to shoot video of Mr. Fisker’s speech, and once I get back home and have a real video editor go over it, I will post it on my EV blog. (https://www.theev-angelist.com)
I was completely blown away by Honda’s concept electric sports car, the EV-ster. It looks a lot like a Hot Wheels toy car I had when I was a boy. It is steered by two joystick-looking doohickeys, which seemed kind of hokey to me, but other than that it was AWESOME!
I finally got to see (and sit in!) the Cadillac ELR extended range plug-in vehicle. I have to admit it is luxurious and the trunk is cavernous. Cadillac is proud of their baby, placing it on a predominant stage.
The Volt was a different story. They were located near the back corner of the floor without a single Chevy rep in sight. Appalling! It actually seems like they want to keep it a secret! The only car more tucked away was the new Chevy Spark electric, and the ones they had were the most HIDEOUS colors!
The first day was reconnaissance, so enjoy the photos. (Not all of these are electric, but I could not resist) More information will come in the recap.
