East Texas EV Road Trip Press Conference

The East Texas EV Road Trip was a great success. Joining TxETRA members (myself and Andrew Higgins), on the drive, were Jade Gillespie, Skyler Williams and Matt Welch of Conservative Texans for Energy Innovation, Jessica Keithan from Texas Electric School Bus Project, Michael Chamberlain from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Route

We got tons of interest (and interviews) from the media, at all our stops: Beaumont, Lufkin, Tyler, Longview and Texarkana. I’ll post the media segments later. We not only spoke to the media and chambers of commerce, we also took people for rides in our EVs. I gave the Mayor of Texarkana a ride in my new Tesla Model Y. Other vehicles on the road trip included a Tesla Model 3, Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV pickup, Rivian R1S SUV and a Bluebird electric school bus (Longview only).

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
