My first EV prototype sighting

VW e-Golf prototypeInteresting incident at work: I was walking near our Service drive charger and a Volkswagen e-Golf was backing into the handicapped parking space to charge. Quite often, the actual parking spot for the charger is blocked by loaner vehicles returned by customers. As always, I went over to greet the EVers and was told by one of them, that it is a prototype they’ve been driving around, on road tests.

They told me I could not take any photos of the vehicle.

I sent a colleague out to see if he could surreptitiously shoot some photos or a video. He did and the VW guys unplugged and left, when they spotted him. They were only there about fifteen minutes, so I don’t think they were charged…

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.

  1. Very cool! Although I would never buy an e-golf.

In the US and China there have been sightings of the Buick version of the Volt called the Velite.

As far as I’m aware, it is only coming to China, but it is a good looking car. I wish Buick was eyeing it for release stateside!
