New face at The EVangelist

My Electric Vehicle Journey” started back in August 2012, so it has been around for over 8 years now. There are limits to what I’ve been able to accomplish on my own, so I’ve recruited a friend to help out, behind the scenes, Ryan Baggett. The blog will still be my voice, amplified by Ryan.

Ryan and I met when he founded a fun run, in the DFW area, called “Run with the Sun.” His brilliant idea was to have renewable energy and electric transportation vendors provide information booths and give test drives for the runners, to grow awareness about these areas. (You know, runners like to be able to breathe when they’re running… and even when they’re not running.) He pitched the idea to Bonnie and me, over dinner one evening, and we loved the idea. The dealership I worked for at the time, Classic Chevrolet, was happy to provide a Chevy Volt (and me) for the project.

I was impressed by Ryan’s willingness to reach out to anyone who could help move awareness of environmental issues forward. Perhaps his boldness comes from serving in the U.S. military, in Iraq. He’s not intimidated about approaching anyone!

Ryan has since moved to the Denver area, but we’ve stayed in touch with one another to continue our focus on our mutual missions. Ryan is now The EVangelist’s Public Affairs Specialist, actively recruiting sponsors and OEMs for our projects, to spread the good news of electric vehicles and renewable energy to all corners of the world.

We are doing this without compensation (so far) because we want our children to inherit a thriving planet.

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
