Sharing EV sales techniques with Chevy salespeople.

Each calendar quarter, instructors are sent to Chevy dealerships across the nation, to bring the sales staff up-to-speed on the latest product developments, competitive analyses and sales tactics. 2020 has been a challenging year for this, as it has for all large companies. Chevrolet has moved their live training into the virtual world, via webcast apps, like Zoom or Webex.

Ramping up for a big EV push, is the subject of a new training being put on entitled, “Bolt EV Kickoff Sales Rally.” I was asked if I’d like to participate, by a regional field leader, Kalesha Hester. She was responsible for my region of the country, back when I worked for Classic Chevrolet and knew me from those days.

Of course, I jumped at the opportunity! A group of us developed the training materials over a ten day period and began rehearsing. Last week, the actual sessions started being held and the reviews have been very gratifying. Both Chevrolet corporate personnel and dealership sales / management staff have responded well to the training and it is going to be rolled out into several other regions in the next couple of months. I was asked if I’d like to continue to perform the training sessions for the other regions and of course, I said yes.

Yesterday and today’s sessions were for dealerships in Texas and I saw several familiar names. That’s why I’m writing today.

IF YOU ARE A CHEVY SALESPERSON (ESPECIALLY IF LOCATED IN TEXAS) THIS IS FOR YOU:

If you’re looking for information on the Texas Rebate for plug-in vehicles, go here.

If you’d like a one-click download of the rebate’s instructions, forms and background materials, the “blogroll” area of my website has a link (look down the right side of this page for the “government” section of the blogroll).

Every time you sell or lease a plug-in vehicle, please make sure you tell your client about TxETRA. TxETRA is a non-profit organization, operating in Texas, to move the adoption of all forms of electric transportation forward. Plug-in vehicle owners can join for free and TxETRA has already saved them hundreds of dollars in registration fees.

If you’d like a copy of my “total cost of ownership” spreadsheet and a short video on how to use it, you can find that here.

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
