The Care Package

About six weeks after acquiring our Volts, We received a FedEx package containing the items you see above. Specifically they were:Care Package

  • A letter from Chris Perry, Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, congratulating us on our purchase. The letter included a couple coupons for service (mine had expired before the package arrived!), an I.D. card of sorts with our VIN numbers and contact information for our dealership.
  • A hard-cover book entitled, “Chevrolet Volt, Charging into the Future.” This is a really nice coffee table sort of book with lots of photos and it covers the development of the Volt.
  • Ten ‘Information Cards‘ to give to people who are curious about the Volt.
  • A “Chevy Volt Quick Reference Guide,” which includes useful links on the web, tips for driving efficiently, information on the RemoteLink app for your smartphone, warranty coverage and the maintenance schedule.
  • A one-page flyer entitled, “Prepare to Meet New People,” which has a window cling with a QR code people can scan to get information about the Volt. (front side image, back side image) It suggests placing the cling on the right, rear window. I found the large text stating, “VOLT INFO SCAN HERE” to be a bit obnoxious, so I trimmed that away and just placed the QR code on my windshield, in the bottom-driver side corner. The QR code takes you to a mobile site, that then sends you to a YouTube video. I figured that if the person didn’t know what a QR code was, being told to scan it wasn’t going to do them any good, anyway.

I’ve mentioned before that our last several cars were Lexuses. We never received anything like this from Lexus, although they did give us key rings. This was a really nice surprise and the book is interesting and informative. Nice job Chevrolet!

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.

  1. I’m looking for this particular book but can’t seem to get it? I’m from London, UK and Chevrolet UK have never heard of it?! Typical.

Can you please provide some information about this book? The ISBN number?
All I keep finding is the older (first edition) version of this book (lime green cover).

What would be even better is the Care Package but it’s the book I’m interested in 🙂

    Thanks in advance

    1. Unfortunately, since we’ve recently moved to a new house, that book is in one of many, many boxes. When I locate it, I will send the information. In the meantime, I’ll reach out to my Volt friends on Facebook and see if I can get the ISBN number for you.

  2. Thanks for your help!

But the thing is that ISBN number is for the first edition. The book cover you show above is a newer version, I think 2013? It’s this I want but doesn’t seem to exist?!
I too ‘like’ the Chevy Volt Owner’s Group on Facebook, never thought to ask them lol.

    Thanks anyways ! 🙂

  3. Hi,

It’s me again! Having little luck sourcing this book?
Came across this blog again and thought I’d ask? Would you be willing to sell your copy?

    Thanks.

    Sham
