Volt + iPhone = Heaven! (Part 2, with video) **UPDATE!**

In an earlier post, I explained some of the ways you could use the iPhone in your Volt, utilizing the “voice pass-through” functionality. A video demonstration of this capability (and more) is located here or on YouTube.Volt-iPhone IntegrationOne thing I started to mention, right when the phone call came in, was iTunes Match. This is a service offered by Apple that gives you access to all your music (up to 25,000 songs) via the cloud. That’s about the size of my music library, which is way too much to squeeze into even the largest capacity iPhone. Using iTunes Match, I can play any of my songs anywhere I can reach the Internet.

Update

In the 2014/2015 Volts, this integration is MUCH better! Now, you press and hold the button on the steering wheel for a few seconds. When you release the button, you’ll hear the familiar Siri chime. Just give Siri a command and you’re done. No more, “Bluetooth. Bluetooth ready. Voice…”

FABULOUS!!!!!

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
