Well, it had to happen eventually…

As you know, I started a new career in car sales because of the Volt. At the dealership where I work, Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas, I have helped other salespeople sell Volts. I’ve helped them introduce their new Volt owners to their vehicle. BUT I HAVEN’T SOLD A VOLT YET!!!

I’ve sold Camaros, SUVs and trucks, but not the car I most believe in, the Volt.

It hasn’t been for a lack of trying. Anyone who expresses a need to reduce costs or are looking for “an affordable car,” get a Volt commercial from me. But no one has been convinced to take the plunge.

Until now.

Al, Buzz and the VoltToday, Al B., a friend to this blog, came to our dealership for the third time since we met on National Plug-in Day. He had always told me he wasn’t going to buy until the 2015’s came out. Today, he saw the latest GM leasing deal and decided to stop by.

Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw Al! It never occurred to me he was ready (I don’t think it occurred to him either…). But after talking a bit and looking through our inventory, he decided it was time and leased a 2014 crystal red tint coat Volt! It has nice, tan leather/suede seats, the navigation system, Bose speakers, all in all a nicely equipped Volt (better equipped than mine, dammit!)

Now, I’m off to introduce Al to the best car he’s ever owned!

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
