Zero electric motorcycle – first view

Bill's Zero SRFAlthough I signed up to test drive a Zero electric motorcycle, when they were first doing a cross-country roadshow, I was never contacted. Perhaps they’d heard that I’ve been hit by a car, on every motorcycle I’ve ever owned…

My first opportunity to see one with my own eyes was July 18th. Bill, a Volt client of mine (who absolutely loves his Volt) called me to say he’d gotten the new Zero SR/F and was in the neighborhood. I told him I was dying to see it, so he stopped by.

Yes, I think that’s exactly why he called, to show off his new baby to someone who would truly “get it.”

Bill is a really cool guy, that may have an addiction to acquiring vehicles, (2 wheel or 4 wheel) but that’s okay with me. I’ve had six Volts in my household.

Bill told me all about the bike, its stability control system, unbelievable acceleration, etc, most of which have slipped my mind. I did not take his bike for a spin, due to my history…

I told him we really need to get together a do a video interview about it. Bill is like me, we can talk EVs all day. It’s been a month and we haven’t gotten around to the video yet, but I just couldn’t keep these pictures to myself anymore. (I’ll have better photos, when we do the video) In the meantime, the photos on the Zero website are pretty awesome…as they should be.

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.

  1. I suppose I should get you some helmetcam videos. I’ve got a few but I should make some clips with less wind noise and more interesting roads.I won’t have a chance to get to the track until this Fall.
